White pepper, like black pepper, is made from the berries of the pepper plant, also known as Piper nigrum. Unlike black pepper, white pepper comes from fully ripe berries. These berries are fermented in water and the outer skin is finally removed, leaving only the inner seed. White pepper is milder than black pepper, but still has a sharp and spicy flavor and a relatively mild aroma.

White pepper is commonly added to chicken dishes, fish dishes, sauces, salads, and potato dishes. It is more aromatic than black pepper, making it unsuitable for sweet dishes.
